'PM cooking to extend CA's deadline'

KATHMANDU
While only fifteen days are left to meet the deadline to promulgate a new statute, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai’s political advisor Devendra Paudel has revealed that the man at helm is engaged in the task of extending the tenure of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

“If CA’s term is not extended, nation will plunge into anarchy,” said Paudel speaking at an interaction organised by Reporter’s Club in the capital on Sunday.

While claiming that the CA would not be dissolved without issuing a new statute, Paudel asserted that the new statute will be promulgated by extending the deadline of the CA.

“PM Bhattarai also believes that the CA shouldn’t be dissolved sans the statute.”

Having said that some regressive forces are hatching conspiracy against federalism, he said the ongoing indefinite shutdown enforced in the Far-western reflects the same story.

On the occasion, PM’s advisor Paudel also said that the UCPN-Maoist should not backtrack from its agenda of identity-based federalism.
